VIDEO: Your need or want for an iPad officially ends today
Why? Because the absolute sole reason to have one, that being Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, is now out for the iPhone.
You basically have two options: you can either download the original iPad version, which has been made Universal, meaning it works on both the big and small screens (hence why you can now get rid of your iPad and perhaps turn a profit on eBay or Craigslist, since demand is still so high). Or you can get the new iPhone/iPod Touch specific “Micro” version.
When I asked if there was a difference between the two, such as perhaps a zoomed in camera for the iPhone version, Craig D Adams, one of the key architects at Superbrothers, said no. But he also added: “No real differences to the program, but it definitely feels quite different… I really like the smaller size for some reason.” Again, the game was originally developed for the iPhone, before the iPad hit the scene.
I have since downloaded both (they went live in the iTunes store around 11:30pm last night) and unable to detect any differences between the two. The most important thing is how it works just splendidly on the small screen. When I expressed concern about my fingers getting in the way: “Haha… yeah, they will get in the way… but because the pace is ‘tap tap… wait/watch/listen… tap tap’ it works ok.”
BTW, here’s a new trailer to commemorate the update, but it’s filled with spoilers, hence why I have yet to watch it myself. So for those who are don’t mind or are still on the fence…
