Or in other words: Sony fanboys are joining the dark side, aka Microsoft, due to you know what.

xbox360 Was bound to happen: PSTools are becoming Xbots

I said last time that I wouldn’t make mention of PSNgate any further until something big goes down, and the following somewhat qualifies me thinks: reports from EDGE that over in Europe, folks are trading in their PS3s for Xbox 360 in record numbers. The following quote basically tells you everything you need to know…

““In the first week of downtime we did not really see any major change in sales or trades,” says one source, a store manager at a major UK retailer speaking on condition of anonymity. “However from the second week onwards we have seen an increase of over 200 per cent on PS3 consoles being traded in, split almost 50/50 between those trading for cash and those taking a 360 instead.””

The report goes on to state that a good deal of those changing their allegiances are “hardcore online shooter” aficionados, which makes sense. Numerous high profile FPSs have come out in the past few weeks alone, such as Call of the Dead, Portal 2, and Brink, with none of them enabling online play, which in each instance is a MAJOR component.

In other crappy news for Sony comes word that no one is bothering to download any PlayStation 1 games for the Xperia Play. This too is hardly a shock, given how anemic the current crop of games available is (just five at the moment, and if PSone play on the PS3 has been any indication, don’t expect a glut of hot new titles anytime soon).

The real crappy part is how one could somewhat easily emulate PSone games on the Android platform till Sony decided to do it officially and had all the homebrew emulators wiped from the Android Marketplace! Anyhow, even former smash hits like Jumping Flash and Destruction Deby have gotten only 50 to 100 downloads. Given how pervasive Sony Ericsson phones are in Europe, along with the Android platform as a whole, that’s downright pathetic.

Meanwhile, Sony’s being all “eh, it’ll get better, you’ll see”. Which is precisely what got them in trouble in the first place, far as I can see.

What'd you think of this?
