Why Duke Nukem Forever will succeed anyway
Mentioned it yesterday, but the secret’s officially out: DNF isn’t very good. The critics have been tearing it a new hole, but guess who doesn’t care? The faithful that have been waiting 10+ years; nothing’s stopping them at this point.
Case in point: folks who pre-order the game however many years ago still have their pre-order slips. This might be the most famous one, an image that’s made the round for literally years…
Well, guess what?
And the thing is, this guy is most definitely not the only one. And that’s the thing; I wanted the game to be good mostly for these dudes, since I’ve never been a fan of Duke. But again, it would appear that many don’t care what the haters have to say… the game is not for them, or so says a few. Though there’s also a decent number that have patiently waited and are pissed.
As also promised last time, I’m working on a review, which I had hoped to be done by this Friday, but now I’m not certain. There are several reasons: for starters, it’s hard for me to play first person shooters in general. It’s the Asian in me; I get motion sickness after a few minutes unfortunately. Why else is the genre not all that super popular back in east?
But if the game is good… meaning if there’s a excellent frame-rate and allows for adjustments… then I’m able to hang in there. Got no problems with Halo! DNF on the other-hand is, among other things, a technical nightmare that literally makes me want to throw up after a few minutes, and not because of the content of the actual game. Though that’s too. Anyhow, stay tuned…
