‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ is the next DC Universe fighting game
Let’s say that you’ve just successful rebooted the Mortal Kombat franchise to much critical and audience acclaim. What’s next? Why, Injustice: Gods Among Us, aka yet another fighting game starring the DC Universe.
When I say another, it’s because NetherRealm tried such a thing once before, somewhat. Remember Mortal Kombat vs. the DC Universe? Which in addition to Sub Zero, Scorpion, and Raiden punching and kicking each other, also had Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman as part of the mix.
That game, unfortunately, sucked pretty badly. But their follow-up has proven that, with a refocusing of energies, anything is possible. And hopefully all the new things they’ve learned since, plus the extra boost of confidence, might translate to an actual decent game starring DC faces for once (the Batman Arkham games being the only exception).
Though I can’t wait to see how the non-comic book reading audience reacts to everyone’s attire. Long story short: everyone’s books got a massive reboot recently, and as a result, everyone has stupid armor. I’m just hoping NetherRealm’s penchant for alternative skins comes into play once again.
