Mega Man, Pac-Man not coming to 360 ‘Street Fighter X Tekken’
Sorry, Capcom is not allowing you the chance to play as the two fan favorite characters, even though every 360 copy has them on the disc already.
Remember when it was discovered that those “coming soon” characters in Street Fighter X Tekken, in the form of paid DLC, was inside everyone’s copies to being with? Not only that, but how Mega Man and Pac-Man, who are Sony exclusives, were also contained on Xbox 360 discs?
Many assumed that it was only a matter of time that they’d be playable on Microsoft’s machine, but in a recent interview, the producer of the game states that it will never, ever happen, so just deal with it:
“Every game has data on it that is unused. In this case, Street Fighter X Tekken for the Xbox 360 did have the Mega Man and Pac-Man data on it. But, we never intended to release these characters on the 360. They are PS3 exclusives and that was our intention from the very beginning.”
Still, hackers have been able to do their magic and make them playable nonetheless. And we’ve gone over why such “unused” data exists in the first place; so 360 gamers can play against PS3 gamers, but all of that could have been achieved with a compatibility pack via download.
Sure it might have been a pain in the ass, but it would have spared Capcom the bad PR and their customers the feeling that they are being gypped (well, because they are). But 360 owners can take solace in the fact that they’ll soon be able to access all the other off limits characters very soon… for $20. Again, for stuff they already own.
Same goes for PS3 owners, but here’s a better option: when the “DLC” comes out on July 31, so will the Vita version of the game. Which will contain a code that unlocks those extra characters for free. By the way, why are they not built-in already? to screw gamers who buy used games, that’s why. But everyone does that these days.
Anyway, if you already own a copy of the console version will have its extra characters unlocked free of charge. Nice to see Capcom not be that greedy. And yes, I just suggested a method that will cost twice as much originally, but the Vita version is pretty damn awesome…
