Square Enix’s next generation demo for E3 is impressive
One primary complaint about E3 this year was the lack of anything new. This can be viewed multiple ways, and while I’m happy that my 360 & PS3 are still number one, it would have been cool to witness the “next generation” of gaming. Enter Square Enix.
The makers of Final Fantasy unveiled a tech demo called Agni’s Philosophy, seen above, that was created with their next-gen looking engine, dubbed the Luminous Studio. And isn’t it pretty?
Having Final Fantasy gameplay match Final Fantasy pre-rendered cut scenes has long been a goal that might finally be met. Though Luminous Studio will be used across the board, for consoles, PCs, browsers, and smartphones.
So what does that mean? I wouldn’t be shocked if the above is for today’s machines as well. And I’m not just talking about Watch Dogs, which everyone thought was going to be next-gen, but is slated for the PS3 and 360.
I’m talking about this, from last year. I doubt Agni’s Philosophy can be completely recreated with today’s, 6 year old-ish consoles (consider the above “target” footage), but I’m sure it can come fairly close.
