Namco Bandai vs. Capcom vs. Sega game for Japan only, of course

Matt Hawkins Contributing Writer, Video Games

Wouldn’t it be awesome if there were a game that featured all your fave character from assorted Namco Bandai, Capcom, and Sega franchises, going at it? Such a thing exists, but you’d better learn how to understand Japanese to give it a shot.

The game in question is called Project X Zone, and is actually the latest in a long line of crossover titles among numerous video game publishers in Japan (almost all of which us Americans would recognize, by the way). And each one features a wacky mix of fan favorites, all fighting alongside and/or amongst each other.

But as the trailer above demonstrates, it’s not an action game but a tactical RPG, which is not everyone’s thing, so that should lessen the blow for some. Along with the fact that the selection of Sega and Namco Bandai characters are a bit on the boring side. Where’s Sonic and the prince from Katamari Damacy?

There’s also the fact that it’s somewhat of a spiritual sequel to Namco X Capcom from a few years back, which supposedly sucked. But you can find out for yourself, if you really want; there’s a fan translated version floating around the internet, though you’ll need a modded PS2 to give it a go.

And for those that really care, here we have the just released full trailer, which clocks in at over ten minutes long…

What'd you think of this?
