‘Watch Dogs’ is an early contender for E3 2012 Game of the Show

Last night, Ubisoft showed off what could be considered the first legitimate look at the future of gaming. And it is good.

As noted not all that long ago, Ubi ended their presser with a game called Watch Dogs. Not a whole lot is known about it, other than what the teaser trailer and gameplay footage tells us. Which fortunately is a considerable amount…

In a nutshell, it’s (apparently) a mix between Grand Theft Auto and Deus Ex. The following is close to ten minutes long, but do yourself a favor and figure a way to watch the whole thing as soon as possible, even though you’re probably at work this very moment.

But a summation anyway: it shows your character, whose some kind of hacker, crashing an arty-farty opening by messing up everyone’s cell phones, then jacking into a conversation to get valuable intel, and causing a traffic accident to trap his target. To ultimately get into a big shoot out…

Many are somewhat divided by the last part, who wish that there weren’t as much running and gunning, but more high tech enabled trickery. I don’t totally agree with such a sentiment, but I see where they are coming from. Hopefully the game will allow players to proceed as they’d like best.

And as you can also see, the game looks absolutely stunning. No platforms have been announced, but it’s assumed that it’s for the next generation of consoles, aka the Xbox 720 or PS4. All of a sudden, I’m interested in buying new consoles again!

What'd you think of this?
