Angry Video Game Nerd gets nostalgic over ‘Mortal Kombat’
The days of the Angry Video Game Nerd getting all pissed at crap titles is apparently long gone. Now he spends his time reminiscing about the fun times had with good ones. Like Mortal Kombat.
You pretty much have to be at least 30 years old to appreciate the clip above. But for anyone that age or older, it’s like hearing your own childhood memories being recounted by a pseudo-internet celebrity.
My initial encounter and reaction was pretty much the same; it was a bowling alley, not a roller skating rink, but I too couldn’t believe at first that you could rip a guy’s heart out, a la Temple of Doom, and couldn’t give a rat’s ass about Street Fighter 2 for quite a while as well.
Oh, and I couldn’t play it in the arcade to save my life either, nor wait for the console version either. Though I had both a Genesis and the 6-button pad, so there were zero issues, control-wise at home. I also totally dug MK3‘s robot ninjas, plus fatalities that left behind 20 legs and 15 heads.
Though Mortal Kombat was also one of the very first games to make me actually think about the people involved as well, something I didn’t even realize until AVGN brought it up.
