Linda the penguin has split up two male penguins who lived as a nesting couple for six years at the San Francisco Zoo, caretakers said.

Male penguins Harry and Pepper had been so content together they were allowed to incubate and hatch an egg laid by another Magellanic penguin last year, zookeeper Anthony Brown said.

Enter the widow Linda, who began courting Harry in her partner’s old burrow shortly after his death this past winter, Brown said.

“To be completely anthropomorphizing, Linda seems conniving,” Brown said. “She’s got her plan. I don’t think she was wanting to be a single girl for too long.”

Though Harry and Linda have been nesting in recent months, molting season in late summer tends to reshuffle couples, KTVU-TV reported Sunday.

“It’ll be interesting to see if Harry spends any of that time with Pepper,” Brown said. “We’ll have to wait and see.”

I like how the zoo is positioning this like it’s compelling prime time drama TV, only with the cast members incapable of flight and dressed like adorable maître d’s. It’s like Melrose Place, but with more intelligible dialogue.

Linda’s a real homewrecker but, at the same time, you can’t fault Harry. A bisexual penguin has needs and there are just some itches another male penguin can’t scratch. Like when Harry needs to get yelled at for eating on the coffee table or be denied sex due to Linda “having a long day,” while meanwhile she’s probably just f’ing that big black penguin down the block because she’s an untrustworthy whore who only lives for her own happiness, no matter who gets hurt. Yeah, I could definitely see how a penguin could fall for a special gal like that.

There are some women who probably just deserve to be turned out. I’d say both of these women fall under that umbrella. When the other girl tries to leave around 3:00 and he comes over and in hushed tones says, “Shh, don’t go, I’m gon’ handle this,” that shouldn’t work. It’s like he’s working some Jedi mind tricks. He even gets the smug host to bend to his will. I’m pretty sure that if any of us were in a room with this guy, he’d end up f’ing our ears and garnishing our wages within minutes. That’s the power of words. And forcing a crack addiction on a woman so that she’s dependent on you. Both are equally effective on that front.

At Least six Toledo athletes accepted money and gifts from two Detroit businessmen in a conspiracy to commit sports bribery case unveiled yesterday. The Detroit businessmen are Ghazi “Gary” Manni, 52, and Mitchell Kuram, 76. These two men paid money and gave gifts to Toledo athletes to influence the final score of a game, aka point-shaving. Six former Toledo athletes (3 basketball players, 3 football players) would make as little as $500 to participate in the scam.

Manni and Kuram were also named in a seperate indictment of fixing horse races in Florida. The two would pay the jockeys off to determine the finishing order of a race.

Interestingly, all three Toledo football players were running backs. Harvey “Scooter” McDougle, Adam Cuomo, and Quinton Broussard. Cuomo, 31, became the middle man, driving the younger players to Detroit to meet with Manni and Kuram. At these meetings, a number was proposed to the player to aid in making sure the pointspread would go their way.

Keith Triplett, Anton Currie, and Kashif Payne were the three basketball players named in the scandal.

All of the incidents were said to have taken place between December2004 and December 2006.

Is this something you think is going on everywhere and that these guys just got caught? Other incidents that come to mind are Luther Campbell placing a bounty on the head of a quarterback playing against Miami, and NBA refs who bet the games they were doing to win money. It inevitably is happening more than we know. We see these college athletes with diamonds the size of a grape in their ear after we hear how they had it so tough growing up with nothing. Common sense people.
