Again, due my complete and utter lack of first-hand knowledge regarding sports (hey, that guy who prayed a lot, is he still in the news?), I must rely upon Twitter and YouTube comments to answer the question above. And despite a few “Sony totally trolled us” sentiments, most love the spot.

Sampras kept them in a public storage facility because he simply didn’t have room for them. There are no leads yet in the case.

Eight days after Iowa WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos made first team All-Big Ten, he’s been arrested for running a drug house. Yea, quite a change of scenery from a football field. In the search of his residence, police found cocaine, marijuana, and prescription drugs along with $3k in cash. Apparently, the scholarship money he was getting did not tide him over.

The Washington Redskins were finally so fed up with Fat Albert Haynesworth that they suspended him the rest of the season (4 games). According to the team, Haynesworth was not on speaking terms with coach Mike Shanahan and wouldn’t play in certain packages. “Despite the club’s numerous attempts to persuade Albert Haynesworth to abide by the terms of his contract, he has repeatedly refused to cooperate with our coaching staff in a variety of ways over an extended period of time.”

In a case of “while you were sleeping”, Carlos Pena signed a one year deal with the Chicago Cubs for $10 million dollars sometime late last night. Pena hit .196 with 28 HR and 84 RBI for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2010. I’ll have to check the record books but I believe that is the largest contract signed by anybody who had an average below the Mendoza line.

You’ll have to excuse my ignorance as to the details of the McCourt-L.A. Dodgers ownership issues. Every day there is a new plot twist and frankly, I just can’t keep up. Yesterday a judge ruled that Jamie McCourt did in fact own 50% of the team and now it seems like the only possible way for this to be resolved is the team being sold to a third party. Around 40 minutes after MSU coach Mark Dantonio beat Notre Dame on an unbelievable fake field goal in overtime, he experienced tightness in his chest. His wife, not wanting to take any chances drove him to nearby Sparrow Hospital where it was revealed that Dantonio had suffered a heart attack. A heart-stopping play both on the field and off apparently. Dantonio had surgery to block the clogged artery and is out indefinitely.

Last year, Brett Favre supporters claimed he had changed his game and wasn’t the “gun slinger” he once was. They certainly had the stats to back them up. Favre threw a career low 7 ints in 2009. Two games into the 2010 season, he’s already thrown 4. Probably should have just stayed home and hunted armadillos.

28 years ago today, NFL players walked out for an incredible 57 days before finally returning to work. The regular season was shortened to 9 games and NBC decided to air CFL games as replacement programming during the lockout. As usual, it was the fans who were hurt the most. By God, if I have to watch this next year, I may gouge my eyes out before Thanksgiving.

Tyler Colvin was having a successful rookie campaign with the Cubs. .254 average with 20 HRs and 56 RBIs. But those will be his “end of the year” statistics for 2010. Colvin was rounding third when a teammates’ splintered bat impaled near his collarbone. He was rushed to a nearby Miami hospital where he will remain for several days to prevent a collapsed lung. Sosa may have never tested positive per se but most people with even a modicum of intelligence will tell you they think he was one of the bigger users around. When you combine that with his corked bat incident, then you probably understand why the Cubs are more than weary to honor him. And that makes Sosa upset.

Sosa tells Chicago Magazine for a story in its September issue that his “number should be untouchable because of the things that I did for that organization.”

I can only speak personally but I’m more than willing to give Sosa a pass here. First of all, as evidenced from his congressional hearing, the man can barely understand English, let alone speak it. Secondly, he has a serious medical condition. How else can you explain the black-white transformation he underwent last year?
