The PS3 isn’t just for watching the NFL anymore

If you enjoy college football, or any other kind collegiate sporting event, some new apps are here for your disposal.

Announced earlier today, and available for download this very second via the PlayStation Network, are a pair of brand new video apps. The first is tied into XOS College Sports, and the other, the SEC Digital Network.

Much like EPSN’s and similar apps, both allows access to both classic and current events, via on demand. And not only can you relieve past glories themselves, but there’s also a host of supplementary content, mostly in the form of documentaries. I’m not a big college sports fan myself, but it sounds like a good deal to me.

The PlaySation Blog has the following highlights:

- Pre-game analysis from the XOS Digital Studio during the week
- Post-game highlights immediately after the game as well as a “Game of the Week” extended highlight
- Full games are available to purchase and watch the next day
- Classic games and documentaries dating back to the 1950’s
- Free daily programming including “SEC Today,” “SEC In The Paint,” “Game Day Central,” and weekly coaches teleconferences

Again, I don’t follow sports, but know plenty that do, and each one them cannot stand having cable. Yet they all subscribe due to their sports packages, which is the only way to see certain games. So perhaps with the above and other options, they too can finally get rid of their cable bills?

Though someone whose actually into such things will have to give me the real lowdown. But also, let’s just hope it works better than the DirectTV NFL thing on PS3, which I hear pretty much sucks, due to constant freezing and the like.

Jersey Shore’s Sammi “Sweetheart” is a former college athlete

As everyone is, we here at Guyism are all about MTV’s new show Jersey Shore. Yelling, fake tans, obnoxious girls getting a right hook to the face…what more can you possibly want? How about this…the hottest chick on the show, Sammi “Sweetheart” is actually a former college soccer player. Hooray for for sexy Italian athletes!

So if you’re looking for a girl to hook up with your friend in the same night as you, as happened on the first installment of Jersey Shore with Mike “The Situation” being ditched by Sammi for Ronnie, who can also pass off a serviceable corner kick, congratulations! We’ve found your dream girl.

I don’t know what’s more surprising…that you can start on a soccer team for three years with your only stat being an assist or that someone in the cast of Jersey Shore has a college degree. With such eloquent prose such as, “If you’re not a Guido, get the f*ck out of my face,” one would be hard pressed not to think that the powers that be at William Paterson are brimming with pride.

University of Tennessee basketball coach is kind of an inappropriate dude (see: his groping of peephole favorite Erin Andrews). But not he’s got to issue an apology for making some comments about how he recruits players from the ghetto…and KKK towns.

Tennessee men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl is apologizing for an off-the-cuff joke he made about a rural area of the state at a charity fundraiser Thursday, calling it “inappropriate.”

Pearl, speaking without notes, was addressing Tennessee Valley Authority employees about the challenges he and his staff face in getting players from diverse backgrounds to play as a team.

“I’ve got a tough job. I’ve got to put these guys from different worlds together, right?’ Pearl said. “I’ve got guys from Chicago, Detroit … I’m talking about the ‘hood! And I’ve got guys from Grainger County, where they wear the hood.”

Mel Kiper Jr. helps scout the females

The NFL Draft is this weekend and, if you’re interested in such things, odds are you know Mel Kiper Jr. Well, now he’s taking his draft expertise to the female college prospects with fairly entertaining results.

Personally I look for a girl with a good wingspan. Have you ever tried to get a reacharound from a girl with short arms? It’s like getting your ass eaten by a dolphin.

Unrelated to the NFL, I f’ing hate 90% of the skits performed by amateur content makers that people email me so seeing this one was like getting a hamburger after subsisting on a diet of lion dung and Tang. I’m not going to call any out by name, but some of the worst things I’ve ever seen have been popped into my email box with the tag of, “I figured you might like this!” If that’s what you people think I’d like then man, I’ve really misrepresented myself here for YEARS.
