Dominic Raiola has certainly seen his fair share of ups and downs as a member of the Detroit Lions. After being drafted by the team in 2001, Raiola has seen an 0-16 season, 26 straight road losses, and the arrival and departure of perhaps the worst GM in the history of sports, Matt Millen.

He’s also been a member of a team that started off a season 6-3, only to collapse down the stretch and finish 7-9. This year, after starting out hot, the Lions have cooled considerably losing five of their last seven games. Injuries to Matthew Stafford, Jahvid Best and some key members of the secondary have contributed to the downfall. But the Lions biggest problem may very well be a lack of discipline.

It was on full display during the Thanksgiving game against the Packers when defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh stomped on a player and was consequently suspended by the NFL for two games. The problems, however, go far beyond Suh as several other players have been flagged for inexplicable personal fouls the last few weeks.

It reached its nadir last night as Titus Young, Brandon Pettigrew and Stefan Logan were given penalties for dumb altercations after the whistle. In the case of Pettigrew, it involved pushing an official.

Lions teammates were seen yelling at each other on the sidelines during the broadcast and the heat carried into the locker room during the post game.

During Sunday’s horrific loss to the Rams, several of the 20,000 Lions fans in attendance started to heckle quarterback Matthew Stafford. (I’d love to give you a first or even second hand account of this but the game was blacked out.)

Anyways, Stafford was smart enough not to respond. Knowing full well towards the end of the game, more than a few fans have had their fair share of pops.

But center Dominic Raiola had enough.  Can’t really say I blame him, he’s only won one game in two years.  And remember, it was Raiola who flipped the bird to fans just last year. But Sunday, he was a bit more kind. Just a couple of f-bombs before he was restrained by his teammates.

We might as well make a list of Kitna-isms.

“I guarantee 10 wins”

At this point, I hope Detroit hangs to Kitna for the next ten years. Not because he’s a good quarterback, but he provides us bloggers with great entertainment.
