Jennie Finch has spent the last 10 years dominating softball both as a collegian and as a member of the U.S national team. And now, after nearly a decade of promoting the sport she loves, she has decided to call it quits to focus on her family.

“I just feel like it gets harder and harder every year with Ace getting older and time away from my husband and even family events such as birthdays and friends’ weddings and things that I’ve always just missed out on because of softball,” Finch said.
“It’s getting a little bit harder to miss those moments in life.”

In fairness to U.S. softball, there have been a number of other women who have contributed to the sports growing popularity. Lisa Fernandez and Cat Osterman were more than just sidekicks for the national team’s dominance in the 2000s. Neither however, were as attractive as Finch. She became a household name and and a staple on every teenage boys’ wall after she appeared in the 2006 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Her popularity also led to an appearance on NBCs “The Celebrity Apprentice”.

She even had the dubious distinction of being named the most attractive female athlete in an ESPN online poll beating out hottie Anna Kournikova. And while we contend that the ESPN poll was more than likely a farce, we won’t argue too much about how good she looks in a bikini.

So how is 2009 shaping up for the world of WAGdom? I’d say it’s looking pretty good. I went through my extensive files and pulled the 100 ladies currently in some sort of relationship with an athlete in the sporting world and ranked them how I see fit (it’s my site). Keep in mind though, the ladies on this list have to be currently in a relationship so sadly we won’t have any more Nereida or Eliza. And somehow Alyssa Milano is not with another baseball player so she isn’t on this list either.

You will most assuredly disagree with my rankings so I am going to let you do a little voting. I am all for letting The People have their say.
