Things are not going well for Kansas football, Mark Mangino, or his local Old Country Buffet. Riding a 5 game losing streak, the Jayhawks are reeling. But questions about the program aren’t only about football these days.

Mangino is being accused of getting physical with some of his players.

Arist Wright, a senior linebacker, was the player who first went to Perkins, and complained that Mangino poked him in the chest in the days leading up to KU’s game at Colorado.

“I can confirm an internal review is under way,” Perkins said in a quote released by the school. “It involves a personnel matter, and as a result, is confidential. It would be inappropriate for me to provide further information right now.”

You know what that’s code for right?

“Mangino is doing a crappy job, we’re sick of him losing, and we’re looking for a way to get out of the contract”

If poking a finger in a guys chest is worthy of disciplinary action, I shudder to think how many times Bobby Knight made a visit to the principals office

And if this was the only complaint about Mangino, it would easily be forgotten. However, KU sports dredged up an interesting situation with the coach and a University parking attendant.

In January 2007, student employee Brad Walters wrote his first ticket on Mangino’s black Lincoln Navigator for parking in the loading zone outside Parrott, formally described on department documents as Anschutz Sports Pavilion.

That was Jan. 3. Then another Jan. 8. And another Jan. 29, followed by others Feb. 19, April 19, May 1 and May 9.

Then, on June 11, Walters wrote his eighth — and last — ticket on Mangino for parking in the loading zone.

It really begs the question, how lazy is Mark Mangino? I’m assuming he has his own parking spot since he’s an employee of the university. I’m also assuming the parking spot is somewhat close to his office. And let’s be serious here, Mangino probably could use a few extra minutes of walking every day. That or quadruple gastric bypass (ok, yea, I just made that procedure up)

But we’ve all been down the road before with an overzealous parking douchebag. Frankly, I’ve always wanted to do this.

“He got out of the car, slammed the door and came within about a half-foot of my face and started yelling at me, saying that I couldn’t answer any of his questions and that he works 16-hour days and has no time to get a pass,” Walters wrote, in his report.

“This job gives you power, does it?” Mangino said, according to Walters. “You feel real f—ing powerful walking around like a big shot, huh? … Why in the hell else would you be bothering me with this?”

The student later reported that he felt his life was in danger. He said something about Mangino foaming at the mouth and asking if he could put some BBQ sauce on him.

For what its worth, Mangino denied that it was BBQ sauce but rather an Italian marinara he’s fond of.
