Free agent forward Mike Comrie and actress/singer Hillary Duff are expecting their first child. The pregnancy announcement came on Duff’s Facebook page while the happy couple celebrated their one-year anniversary.

“This weekend, Mike and I are celebrating our 1 year anniversary… I can’t believe it has already been a year, time really flies when you’re having fun!”

The timing couldn’t be any more perfect as Comrie announced last week that he would not be returning to hockey until his injured hip is fully healed. Judging from his ability to squirm around under the sheets, I’d say he’s already on the mend.

Hilary Duff is certainly part of the rich and famous in Hollywood. The “Lizzie McGuire” star has been in several movies and has more than a few platinum albums to speak for. But her bank account, no doubt, pales in comparison to newlywed husband Mike Comrie. The Edmonton Oilers forward’s family is worth well over 500 million dollars. In addition to his salary as a hockey player, Comrie’s family owns a lucrative furniture and appliance retailer. That’s a lot of sofas and dishwashers folks.

“It was a totally amicable agreement. They love each other very much and knew this was just a technicality,” said one insider.

I won’t insult the Guyism readers’ intelligence by pretending that above statement is true. While I’m sure the two are madly in love, a half billion dollars is nothing to scoff at. It was amicable in the sense that Comrie’s family told him, “get a prenup or the b—h is out, eh”. You know, because all Canadians end their sentences like that.
