The need to maintain even a modicum of professionalism is completely lost on the lovely Tristan. If the tables were turned and the athlete in question was say, an attractive female, there would be outrage. No actually, strike that. There would be a social media bar room brawl ripe with stereotypes, hypocrisy and general tomfoolery.

The Kansas City Royals came in with some hype this year. Some thought they could make noise in an otherwise pedestrian AL Central. On paper, the team looked formidable with a budding star in Eric Hosmer anchoring the middle of their lineup.

Then the losses started to mount. First to Oakland, then the Indians and the Tigers. Yesterday, the Blue Jays capped off a 4-game sweep with a 4-1 victory. The losing streak stands at 11 now.

The players are clearly frustrated as are the coaches. The fans? Well, one guy flat out gave up during the ninth inning yesterday while the Royals attempted a rally. It appears he’s much more interested in this David Baldacci novel than that runner stealing second base.

There, the play went around the horn for three consecutive outs. On replay, the ball clearly landed in foul territory before getting picked up.

The scene was wild as the Padres vehemently protested the call to no avail. Bud Black was subsequently ejected in the aftermath.

The replay is a bit gruesome so you want to avert your eyes if such things bother you. Downs did walk off the field under his own power. Truly astonishing given the degree with which his ankle bent.

Stephen Strasburg is not the only attraction at Nationals games this year. Meet Kristina Akra, who was brought on to the MASN broadcast team before the season. She describes herself as a “multi-talented host and reporter with experience in sports, news, and entertainment” on her official website. ]]>

Stephen Strasburg is not the only attraction at Nationals games this year. Meet Kristina Akra, who was brought on to the MASN broadcast team before the season. She describes herself as a “multi-talented host and reporter with experience in sports, news, and entertainment” on her official website. Before the Nationals gig, Akra worked for Providence College, the New England Patriots and New England Revolution. She has a lot in common with another famous sideline reporter, Erin Andrews, both of whom attended the University of Florida and danced for the Dazzlers.

Akra’s home debut for the Nationals is going quite well, although, I’m not sure how she could screw it up. We’ll keep an eye on her, you know, just to make sure she’s doing her job.
