TV characters have a pretty sweet deal, what with their friends and important lessons learned and a room full of random strangers laughing at their lives. But perhaps the biggest perk of being a beloved TV character? The completely ballin’ houses.

The Munsters Mansion

When you think of the Munsters mansion, what’ the first thing you think of? Probably Spot, the pet dragon that lived under the stairs. That home amenity alone is single-handedly one of the most badass home amenities of all time. I mean, sure, you’ve got to watch your step every time you go upstairs, and you damn well better have some really great home fire insurance, but that’s just small potatoes compared to the fact that you get to OWN A F’ING DRAGON.

Throw in other killer home features like an electric chair for lounging, a secret room hidden by a revolving suit of armor and various secret passageways and trapdoors, and there’s no doubt about it – 1313 Mockingbird Lane is one monster of a dwelling. How a blue-collar Frankenstein’s monster that works at a funeral home ever scraped together enough money to purchase a mansion this big is beyond me, but I’m glad he did.

Addams Family, you can keep your Lurch Bell and torture chamber, I’d rather live with The Munsters.

The Silver Spoons Mansion

When your dad is an inventor for a toy company, you better believe he’s going to bring his work home with him. Arcade games? Check. Foosball table? Check. Scale model train that travels the length of the house!? Double Check!!

Let’s face it, Ricky Schroeder hit the jackpot when he showed up on his long-lost-dad’s doorstep. From 1982 to 1986, this home was the playground of dreams for all the little 80s kids growing up in boring old, non-pinball-machine-containing homes across America. Which begs the question: why do fictional bastard children have all the luck? (Case in point: Webster also had a pretty badass TV home, complete with dumb waiter and hidden passageway behind the grandfather clock).

Barney Stinson’s Bachelor Pad

How I Met Your Mother’s Barney Stinson is the ultimate bachelor. And rather then ruin that sweet man cred by bunking up with one and half other men (Charlie Sheen), Barney brings his swinging lifestyle home with him. With no women attached to his bank account, Barney has enough disposable income to own not one, but TWO wall-sized flat-screen TVs.

To promote his penchant for one-night stands, Barney also has a variety of amenities to ensure his lady friends never stick around too long. These super intelligent home features include an pantry that is completely empty, king-sized bed with only one pillow, and a porno collection that is professionally displayed for all to see. Oh, and the pièce de résistance? A spring-loaded toilet seat lid that ensures that little symbol of male independence is ALWAYS raised. Now that’s good livin’.

The Jetsons’ Futuristic Home

Even though the Jetsons home was conceived in the early 1960s, their home is still light-years beyond even the most technologically advanced homes of today. Though some of their home amenities have crept into the real world (videophones, robotic vacuum cleaners, etc.), the Jetsons certainly have it easy in 2062. We’re talking machines that dress you in the morning, instantly produce home-cooked meals and walk the dog so you don’t have to.

And then there’s Rosie, the wise-cracking robot maid. She may run her mouth while cleaning up your mess, but she always got the job done. In a world where working full-time means a 15-hour work week, I think it’s safe to say that we’re all a little envious of the Jetsons.

Wayne Manor

Two words: bat cave. Though Batman’s home has graced the TV screen in numerous renditions, I’m going to stick with the classic Adam West version. Above ground, you’ve got a sprawling mansion that would put Richie Rich to shame, complete with dutiful butler and direct line to Commissioner Gordon. And just one fire pole slide away, you’ve got an underground bat cave complete with all the bat-themed technologies you could ever need.

Housing the Batmobile, along with such helpful gadgets as batgas pellets, a universal drug antidote, the batzooka and, of course, shark repellent, the Bat Cave is essentially the most awesome garage of all time.

Pee-Wee’s Playhouse

Pee-Wee’s Playhouse is probably the only TV show in history in which the house itself is the actual focal point of the show. With that much attention, you better hope the home owner delivers some unique and innovative home amenities. And boy, did Paul Reubens deliver.

Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin – Chairry the talking chair, a stuttering robot named Conky, a wish-granting genie named Jambi!? This house is armed to the gills with a bevy of delightful distractions. And it’s not just Pee-Wee’s friends that make his playhouse so freaking amazing. From the ridiculously absurd foil and rubber band balls to the “I have to have it” Picturephone shaped like a woman’s head, Pee-Wee’s playhouse is top to bottom one of the most awesome TV homes of all time.
