Not only is Novak Djokovic’s girlfriend, Jelena Ristic, incredibly attractive, she’s also a class act. Following his victory over Lleyton Hewitt, Djokovic was asked by Jim Courier about a photo application in which he made his girlfriend’s face fat.

The camera panned over to Ristic who sheepishly smiled at the attention she was getting.

Djokovic later took to his very popular Twitter account (of which there are a half-million followers) to post the picture in question.

The two have been going out for quite some time, so Ristic is probably used to the Djoker’s antics. That being said, if he wasn’t a millionaire, I’m not so sure she would stick around for his next act.

The 6-0, 6-0, 6-2 match was only 90 minutes long. Despite that, there were a handful of long rallies between the two, highlighted by this one that showed off some of Djokovic’s quick reflexes at net.

That wild, 24-hit rally lasted more than 30 seconds. Certainly one of the craziest points you’ll ever see, and as John McEnroe noted, one of the best they’ve seen at Arthur Ashe stadium.

Novak Djokovic looks primed and ready to make yet another deep run at a Grand Slam. The world number two has only lost once this year and already has the Australian Open under his belt in 2011. But to continue beating top players, Djokovic will have to do a better job of keeping his temper in check. Watch as he loses this amazing rally against Marco Baghdatis and takes out his frustration on the poor tennis racquet.

Despite the outwardly display of anger, Djokovic went on to win the match in four sets and move into the 4th round at Wimbledon. Behind the scenes though, Djokovic seems to be more frustrated with an off the court issue. Officials at the All-England club have refused entry to his pet poodle.

Djokovic was said to be fighting Pierre’s case “at the highest level,” a potential distraction as he prepared to face No. 19 seed Michael Llodra of France on Monday.

“He is upset he can’t bring Pierre to Wimbledon and he is pleading with the authorities to let the dog in,” a source close to the player said. “Whenever he can, he takes the dog with him. He is genuinely upset. For him this is a very serious issue.”

After he was photographed with the player in Paris, Pierre’s profile rose with a cover spot alongside his sporting owner on the July edition of fashion magazine L’Uomo Vogue.

And yes, of course Pierre has his own Twitter page. Why wouldn’t he?

The top ranked female tennis player showed up at Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon press conference and decided to ask a few questions of her own.

From a comedic standpoint, the interview left a lot to be desired. However, given the lack of personality from many on the tour, these two certainly deserve a round of applause for the effort. Oddly enough, you could argue that Djokovic and Wozniacki have the most pressure on them of any players entering Wimbledon so the light-hearted moment probably served as some kind of therapy for the two. Djokovic has yet to break through at Wimbledon and has to fight off that dreaded “one match losing streak” and Wozniacki is trying to break the stigma of best player to not win a Grand Slam.

Expect one of these two to hold up that championship trophy at the All-England Club in two weeks.

Novak Djokovic was bound to lose right? That’s what people had been saying for the better part of five months as Djokovic won tournament after tournament and remained undefeated. But that winning streak came to an abrupt halt this evening at Roland Garros when Roger Federer beat him in four sets, 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6.

The match took an abrupt turn after the first set when Djokovic was broken early and clearly looked frazzled. He looked to his box several times in dismay and even once made the sign of the cross. He rallied in the third but given Federer’s 174-0 record after leading two sets to love in Grand Slam matches, it would have taken a Herculean effort to bounce back.

Federer will now face Rafael Nadal in the finals. Something we’ve obviously seen a time or two before.

The University of Connecticut was seeking the rare double. A national title in both men’s and women’s basketball in the same season. Surprisingly, it was the women who were ousted out of the tournament after 2 straight championships. Maya Moore’s 36 points weren’t enough to hold off a Fighting Irish attack that scored 46 points of their own in the second half en route to a 72-63 win. Easily one of the biggest upsets in the history of the women’s tournament.

It’s been a strange year for Phil Mickelson. Having won the 2010 Masters, most thought he would propel himself into the conversation for the #1 player in the world. But, like his nemesis Tiger, Phil couldn’t find his swing the rest of the year and even took some time off to be with his family. The non-winning streak lasted until yesterday when Mickelson, in a tune up for the Masters, won the Houston Open. His final round 7-under 65 was the best final round score to win a tourney this year. Could Phil go back-to-back in the Masters? Given Tiger’s trouble there lately, it certainly isn’t a bad bet.

For years, people awaited the new era of men’s tennis. Frankly, seeing Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer play in every single Grand Slam final was boring. Enter in Novak Djokovic. The man has been on a mission in 2011 having won every tournament he’s entered in including the Australian Open. In fact, Djokovic is unbeaten this year and looks well on his way to stealing the #1 seed from Rafael Nadal .

Missouri basketball had a very public courting of Matt Painter last week. Most thought Painter would have turned the job down right away because Purdue was his alma-mater, and because, well, it’s a better job. But Painter left the Boilermakers worrying for several days before finally saying “enough is enough”. The Tigers were left searching for another man to head up their basketball program and oddly enough, decided on Frank Haith of the Miami Hurricanes (129-101 career record). For fans that can’t feel good. Painter to Haith? Ouch.

While most of you were watching Monday Night Football, history was being made at Flushing Meadows yesterday. Rafael Nadal became the seventh player in history to complete a career Grand Slam. Known mostly for his success at the French Open, Nadal has quickly vaulted himself amongst the all-time greats regardless of surface. His victory over Novak Djokovic was his first U.S. Open championship and at the young age of 24, has 9 Grand Slam victories to his credit.

On his way to victory the last two weeks, Nadal lost only one set–and that was in the final to Djokovic. His run was so impressive, that he was only broken on serve five times the entire tournament. Yesterday, while him and Novak exchanged baseline blows, Nadal did the unthinkable. He went 45 straight points without an unforced error.

“For the first time in my career, I played a very, very good match in this tournament. That’s my feeling, no? I played my best match in the U.S. Open at the most important moment.

When asked about comparing his career achievements to rival Roger Federer, Nadal responded:

“It’s too far; 16, for me, is too far to think about right now. My goal, all my life, was the same: keep improving.”

Arian Foster ran for 231 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Texans beat the Colts yesterday. The 231 yards was the most the Colts had given up against any running back since Barry Sanders in 1997. Not bad for a guy who just last year found himself on the Texans’ practice squad for a majority of the season.

13

Day 13 of the U.S. Open will now turn into Day 14 of the U.S. Open. The much anticipated match between Nadal and Federer, *er*, Djokovic was postponed until Monday at 4 EST because of rain. The entire championship itself has been marred by strange weather including wind gusts last week as high as 33 mph.

16

And 16 years later, the World Championship gold medal finally came back to the United States. While some will point to Coach K or the team’s aggressive defense for the success, it was MVP Kevin Durant who put the team on his back offensively. His seven three-pointers proved too much for Turkey–as a result of the win, the U.S. reclaimed the #1 world ranking from Argentina and now hold every major international title.

71

The Cowboys appeared to pull out a last minute win against their divisional rival Redskins last night. That is until they saw the laundry on the field. “Holding #71″, the ref screamed. Unfortunately for Alex Barron, there was no hole he could crawl into that was large enough to hide a man of his size.

For the first time in well, forever, Tiger Woods will be excluded from a tournament for not being “good enough”. His 15th place at the BMW championship this weekend left him in 42nd place on the FedEx Cup points list. Only the top 30 move on to the Tour Championship.

11

James Madison received 11 points for the AP top 25 after pulling off a major upset against Virginia Tech Saturday. The loss leaves the Hokies unranked and wondering what happened. Most had them 2-0 and contending for a national championship early in the season. Now coach Frank Beamer has to wonder if his team is even good enough to make a bowl game.

The Queen decided to grace Wimbledon with her presence for the first time in 33 years. And though she greeted many of the top players including Roger Federer, she won’t be able to catch the female #1 Serena Williams play at the famed Centre Court. For some strange reason, the defending champion was scheduled to play on Court 2. Whether this was a snub or not, who knows. She was replaced by uber hottie Caroline Wozniacki.

Conspiracy? Maybe just a ratings thing.

To her credit, Serena hasn’t said a word about the snub and even offered the Queen a curtsy. And Novak Djokovic, yea, he was caught taking a peek at Serena’s derrière. Although, given that backside view, I can’t say I blame him

It would also help if you didn’t meltdown against some dude named Jurgun Melzer. Although, in fairness to Novak, the French Open has been riddled with major upsets this year. The Williams sisters came in ranked #1 and #2 and both had early exits. Defending champion Roger Federer had his streak of 23 straight majors making the semifinals broken earlier this week as well.

If Rafael Nadal doesn’t save this tournament, it will go down as one of the worst in recent memory.

Well, you get incredibly elaborate perpetual motion experiments that stretch on for hours. In hindsight though, I’d rather have them develop something that got me a date with Caroline Wozniacki, but I guess this will do.

When you consider this week also featured the Large Hadron Collider finally working, it seems to be only a matter of time before machines take over the world. I just hope when they decide to wipe out the human race, they spare out of shape, slightly overweight bloggers.

Roddick and Djokovic.

Sounds like the intro for a eastern european gay version of batman and robin.

Anyways, Roddick said some things about Djokovic the other day, claiming he had “one too many injuries”.

Djokovic didn’t take kindly to the words and used the post-match interview to chide Roddick.

Remember this is the same man who used the U.S. Open last year to do impressions of other players. To my knowledge, nobody tried to fight Djokovic afterwards. Maybe now its time.

Robin always was sensitive wasn’t he……
