A New Hampshire couple was shocked to find a photo of a young girl naked from the waist down in a Parenting newsletter.

A local man and his wife subscribe to the Parenting.com e-mail newsletter, which is part of the magazine Parenting.

A recent newsletter showed a young child playing in an open suitcase with her genitals clearly exposed. The man alerted the magazine to the photo and then received this statement from Parenting expressing regret for running the photo:

Parenting.com apologized for the error (see the letter here) but who knows the countless minds they permanently warped by showing a bunch of parents a photo of a half-naked baby.

Also, a half-naked baby girl in a suitcase? I thought they revoked Roman Polanski’s traveling privileges.

Imagine you own a million dollar sports car and you end up driving it into a salt marsh (apparently that’s a thing). You’d be a little annoyed, probably. Likely very annoyed. Well, the tow truck guy who got the car out perhaps undersold that annoyance just a bit.

A man blamed a low-flying pelican and a dropped cell phone for his veering his million-dollar sports car off a road and into a salt marsh near Galveston.

The accident happened about 3 p.m. Wednesday on the frontage road of Interstate 45 northbound in La Marque, about 35 miles southeast of Houston.

“He said he was getting so many calls that he finally stopped answering his phone,” said wrecker driver Gilbert Harrison of MCH Truck and Auto, which is storing the car.

But Harrison said the driver seemed to take his very expensive mistake in stride.

“He was calm,” Harrison told the Chronicle. “If it had been me, I’d have been cussing, but he was calm. I imagine inside he was probably pretty upset.”

UC San Diego — a school for the smart ones, supposedly — mistakenly congratulated nearly 29,000 applicants on their acceptance, according to university officials.

Earlier this month, about 17,000 students were offered admission for the fall, leaving nearly 29,000 hopefuls out in the cold.

But on Tuesday, the school’s communications office said an e-mail was sent Monday afternoon to all 46,377 students who applied for admission — including the 29,000 rejects — welcoming them to the campus.

A half-hour later, school officials said, they realized their mistake. Almost two hours after the first note went out, a second e-mail was sent, apologizing to 28,889 freshmen applicants for the mistake.

“No member of this department is more acutely aware of the emotional roller-coaster that this could cause for our applicants,” Assistant Vice Chancellor Mae W. Brown said.
