I swear people have been saying that for years but have never actually done it. Mostly, because they didnt have the horses for it.

And you know what, Brady looked very average yesterday. In fact, you could make the argument that Brady was less than stellar in his last two games.

Brady is human.

90% of quarterbacks in the NFL that get pressured don’t perform well and Brady is no different. Its pretty easy to hit Wes Welker on a crossing route when you have five seconds to do it. Its not so easy when you have guys breathing down your neck.

Not much was made about Brady laughing at Plaxico Burress’ 23-17 prediction.

“We’re only going to score 17 points? OK. Is Plax playing defense?”

Some will call that confidence in his team, I call it stupidity.

And speaking of confidence, you have to have some pretty big balls to videotape a team during the Super Bowl.

The argument that the tape wasnt useful or that it doesnt help that much doesn’t hold water. Its akin to baseball players saying roids didnt help them hit the ball farther.

Who the hell is Stephen Gostkowski?

He is the man that will make or break the Patriots perfect season…

Let me explain….

Most oddsmakers have the Patriots as a 12-15 point favorite in this Sunday’s Super Bowl.

And while many would agree that the Patriots are a better team on paper its hard to argue against the Giants impressive road stretch, both during the regular season and the playoffs. Combine that with the way the Giants played against the Pats in week 17, and its a good bet this will be more competitive than the spread indicates.

And thats where our friend Mr. Gostkowski comes in. See, amid all the hoopla about the Pats Dynasty and how well they have fared in Super Bowls, its a wonder why people forget that each Super Bowl was decided by 3 points. Yes, a simple field goal.

A quick recap:

Super Bowl XXXVI(2002)-Adam Vinatieri kicks a 48 yard field goal as time expires
Super Bowl XXXVIII (2004)-Adam Vinatieri kicks a 41 yard field goal with 4 seconds remaining
Super Bowl XXXIX(2005)-Adam Vinatieri kicks a 22-yard field goal with 8:40 to play which ends up being the game winner

In fact, in the Patriots 16 playoff games since the 2002 season. Eight of those games have been decided by 7 points or less, six by 3 points or less.

In the 2004 and 2005 Super Bowls, the Patriots were favored by more than a field goal and they were clearly the better team. But yet, a field goal was all that separated them in the end.

So let’s peak in on Gostkowski’s numbers, shall we?

2006-2007 season
20-26 regular season 8-8 playoffs

2007-2008 season
21-24 regular season 1-2 playoffs

Career 40+ yards
Regular season: 6-10
Playoffs: 3-3

In total, Gostkowski makes about 83% of his field goals. However, of those 50 makes, not a single one has ever come as a game winner. In fact, in the two years he has been in the league, only one of his 4th quarter field goals came in a very close close game(i.e +/- 3pts).

How’s that for pressure?

This Sunday, when the Giants pass rush starts getting to Brady and they have to settle for field goals, they will have to rely on a man who hasn’t faced the heat yet, a man who is a virgin to playoff pressure, a man who has yet to kick a game winner.

It could be worse though, the Pats could have Lawrence Tynes.

So Ive gone 6-2 so far in the playoffs and really, it wasnt that hard. I think I picked the favorite and/or home team in every one. I regret not picking the Giants even though they had a legitimate chance to win.

But that’s neither here nor there.

I’d love to talk about the matchups this weekend but frankly, its not all that exciting.

What truly is not exciting however, is the fact that the NFC Championship Game will not feature a single cheerleader.

That’s right. Not a single one, Dammit! There are seven teams in the NFC that dont have cheerleaders and we get stuck with 2 of the 7. What are the odds of that happening? um…let’s see 2 divided by 7 equals…oh, You know what, forget it. Im not good at math anyways. But the last time a NFC Championship Game didnt feature a single cheerleading squad.

As a young strapping lad in college, I think I shed a tear that dreadful Sunday.

The best the Packers can muster up as far as hot women are those three skanky broads that call themselves the Favre Girls or something.

Personally, Ill pass, Ive seen better. Too much cheese in Wisconsin to produce anything un-Heifer like.

The best the Giants have to offer is that chick Elizabeth Banks that was a Giants fan in the movie “Invincible”. Yea, I know Im reaching but the Giants wont answer my emails. All I asked from them is to send me a picture of their hottest and/or skankiest fan. They haven’t obliged. They still have two days so I wont hold it against them.

Given these two options, I think I have no other choice than to pick the Giants to upset the Packers

The AFC Championship features the only team left with cheerleaders. You guessed it.

The New England Patriots. No wonder they’re so damn successful. That Robert Kraft, I tell ya, he’s a genius.

And although the Chargers dont have a cheerleading squad, they do have a dance team called the Charger Girls. And I think I speak for every man out there when I say,

God Bless Southern California!

This one is a nail biter. At first glance, the Chargers girls look more aesthetically pleasing. Yes, I have no idea what aesthitically means but saying one of them had better racks than the others just didnt seem PC enough.

Anyways, the Charger girls are hot but I still believe they deserve negative points for not having actual cheerleaders. I mean, why cant there be dancers and cheerleaders? Would they fight or something? Would they get into a KY Jelly Pit and wrestle each other and rub up on one another to see who was more dominant?

On second thought, I think I just had a brilliant idea. Where’s William Clay Ford’s number again? Gotta make those Lions games more exciting.

Tom Brady threw only 2 incomplete passes on Saturday. One was an obvious dropped ball by Wes Welker but nonetheless the Patriots moved on to the AFC Championship Game next week

After falling behind early, the Pack scored 21 unanswered points in a 42-20 win over Seattle.

The Bad….

In a battle of the two best teams in the NHL, Detroit came up on the short end of the stick losing 3-2. Meanwhile, Roger Clemens is now backing down on his stance of testifying under oath in front of Congress. Hmm?

The Celtics lost for the 2nd time in three games. A little of that luster wearing off Celtics fans?

and The Ugly

6th ranked MSU could only muster 36 points in a loss to a terrible Iowa team. It was the lowest MSU had ever scored in a game since 1952.

Speaking of asterisks, the Jaguars were smart enough to take it down. Nonetheless, it was funny while it lasted.
