It appears Knight knew the writing was on the wall for him after the Red Raiders lost to Colorado at home on Feb. 23rd.

“We’ve lost seven games in the last minute,” he said. “This program is competitive. But that’s not for me. I mean, honestly, I’m going to be coaching here, I’m going to be coaching somewhere else. I’ve proven I can coach. I run a clean program, I don’t cheat, my players graduate and we have discipline. So if you don’t want me here there’s going to be someone else that wants me.”

Depending on where the cards fall in the rest of college basketball, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Knight get a high profile position sometime in the next few weeks. Perhaps even to the SEC with Tennessee. The NCAA has already come down hard on the Vols and Bruce Pearl will be the likely scapegoat for many of their problems.

It only makes sense to bring in a guy like Pat Knight, who, by his own words runs a clean program and graduates players. Something Tennessee has had problems doing under Pearl’s run there.

As far as Texas Tech firing Pat Knight, I think his father said it best on Saturday. “That’s chickensh–”.

The same luck did not apply to Texas Tech Saturday who botched a kickoff so badly that it’s a wonder if those young men are even familiar with the rules.

So we here at Guyism are giving you the highlights of most of the bowl games with a short picture essay.

Texas Tech’s Adam James was booed mercifully by Tech fans as he left the field during halftime of the Alamo Bowl. Because of the “danger to his life, he was escorted by several security guards. Luckily for James and Red Raider nation, Texas Tech was able to pull out a victory amongst all the strife in their program.

Sarah Thomas became the first woman to officiate a bowl game. Oddly enough, this was the most intriguing thing about the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. Well that, and my ability to finish two Hot N’ Ready’s during the game.

If you missed the Auburn-Northwestern game you missed one of the wildest finishes in college football this year. You also apparently missed one hell of a titty twister.

Or is that a purple nurple?

Speaking of feeling purple, consider this kicker from ECU the Goat of the bowl season. Missing 4 field goals including several chip shots in the 30 yard range that would have won the Pirates the game. But as bad as he was, at least he didn’t get suspended for a food fight like two of his teammates.

One of the all-time greats Bobby Bowden is carried off the field by his players after defeating West Virginia in the Gator Bowl. Bowden may look happy here but he is steaming inside knowing his nemesis Joe Paterno is still coaching.

As happy as Jim Tressel is that his Buckeyes won the Rose Bowl and that he probably has a Heisman candidate in Terrelle Pryor next year, I’m guessing that the viewers don’t really want to see him making out with his wife. That is, unless you have one of those “old people getting it on” fetishes.

June Jones’ SMU team may have beaten Nevada in the Hawaii Bowl, but Jones doesn’t look too thrilled here about his return to the island We’re thinking he should just be happy he got lei’d.

How many Tigers fans out there would love to give Les Miles a punch of their own? After starting off the season 5-0, LSU limped to the finish losing 3 of their last 5 games including a 19-17 loss to Penn State in the Capital One Bowl. Its a wonder if this time next year, Les Miles will be getting a call from Wolverine nation.

Amidst speculation that he hit a player a few months ago, South Florida coach Jim Leavitt was still able to enjoy a Gatorade bath after defeating NIU in the International bowl. If Leavitt returns next year, the Bulls will be one of the most dangerous teams in the Big East

Easily the worst bowl game of the BCS era. Few wondered if Cincinnati could even hang with the Gators with Brian Kelly at the helm. Without him, they barely put up a fight as they were down 30-3 at halftime.

Apparently, this video clip was given to a Tv station in Dallas by representatives of Adam James and his family. If you thought this Texas Tech situation couldn’t get any stranger, well, you were dead wrong.

This video was taken by Adam James, a player on the Texas Tech Red Raider football team on Saturday, December 19th, after being confined by Coach Mike Leach in an electrical closet off the Press Room at Jones AT&T Stadium. James was suffering from a concussion received during an earlier scrimmage game. James was ordered to stand in the darkness until released several hours later. James momentarily turned on a light to record his surroundings with his cell phone.

A part of me thinks that Adam James is probably a bit spoiled and was a baby about this whole ordeal. And a part of me thinks that not giving somebody proper treatment after receiving a concussion makes Mike Leach some kind of monster.

As a society, we’ve gotten too immune to the word “concussion”. If I replaced that word with uh, a word like brain injury, would you feel the same?

but locking them in a closet, that’s a new one. Mike Leach is sort of an oddball though and whatever leash he had, well, its now on its final thread.

Yea, to make this situation even weirder, the player in question is the son of ESPN analyst Craig James. The player, Adam James, is a redshirt sophomore wide receiver for the Red Raiders.

A source close to the family said James sustained a concussion on Dec. 16, was examined on Dec. 17 and told not to practice due to a concussion and an elevated heart rate. The source said Leach called a trainer and directed him to move James “to the darkest place, to clean out the equipment and to make sure that he could not sit or lean. He was confined for three hours.”

A source told the Associated Press that James said Leach told him that if he came out he would be kicked off the team.

If you recall, Leach went on a tirade earlier this year after losing to in-state rival Texas A&M. Not known to be PC or anything, Leach accused the team of having “fat little girlfriends” who pampered them.

He said his staff had failed to make “our points more compelling than their fat little
