It was the perfect storm. George Mason had mounted a comeback against Villanova and trailed by one with 30 seconds left. And, of course, the most dramatic announcer in the history of sports, Gus Johnson, was calling the game. CBS could not have scripted it better with Vince McMahon running the “Montreal Screw Job”.

For awhile, it looked like this would be one of the bigger upsets in NCAA history. A #2 seed has only lost 4 other times in tournament history. But Scottie Reynolds hit some huge free throws down the stretch as the Wildcats squeaked out a win against Robert Morris in overtime 73-70.
