It’s for Kiki Trick and it’s kinda far out, man.

The following is from the makers of the WarioWare series. That’s pretty much all that’s known right now. But in terms of games in which it’s all about totally random, batsh*t insane things happening every three seconds, it would seem that those responsible have truly outdone themselves…

It’s coming out for the Wii in Japan in a bit, and you can bet about $50,000 in cold hard case that it will NEVER see the light of day in the United States. Sucks, but that’s just how it is. Such niche games have limited marketability to begin with, and given how tricky (and costly) it is to translate games from Japan are in general, especially when there’s lots of cultural in-jokes like Kiki Trick will no doubt be chock full of, this title looks like a logistical nightmare on so many levels.

At the very least, their previous title, Rhythm Heaven Fever, is still slated for release in North America, in a few weeks. But those interested in another “lol Japan” type title, that’s also a mini game fest, look no further than Work Time Fun (otherwise know as WTF, get it?) for the PSP. All one needs to know is how the background of the options screen is a

With Mega 64, it’s cool, since they did it for the money. But the President of the United States? I somewhat expect better taste in gaming from our Commander in Chief.

First, there’s this: the latest “legit” gaming ad from those wacky guys from SoCal…

Can’t say it’s my most favorite thing from the guys, but not everything’s going to be a home run. At the very least, it’s nice to know that they got a decent paycheck this holiday season, and hopefully they all got free copies of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations as bonuses as well.

Meanwhile, across the country, President Obama decided to get a game for his daughters at a Best Buy…

I agree with Joystiq: why in the hell is the leader of this United States supporting a foreign publisher, that being Ubisoft, while an American one, that being Harmonix, makes a far superior dancing game, that being Dance Central?

It would appear that Obama’s household lacks a 360 and Kinect, but surely the President can afford one. Also, the footage above proves how clueless the average Best Buy employee is, for claiming that Just Dance 3 is the hot Wii game at the moment, and totally forgetting to mention Skyward Sword.

Oh well, guess I’m voting for the other guy next year.

As noted yesterday, Wal-Mart is the big box, evil empire that not only threatens small business owners, but they impose their moral dogma upon content providers, including game makers. But not all the time, and man, some of their deals cannot be beat!

They just posted their circular for deals going down in two weeks, which may be just the ticket to get some fresh air that Thanksgiving morning, especially if either football or dealing with in-laws is not your deal…

For a closer look, as well as to see what else is on sale, simply head here. Highlights include:

- Wii for not just $100, but in blue! As Siliconera points out, what was previously thought to be a European exclusive is finally making an appearance in America, perhaps as a Wal-Mart exlusive? Note that this is one of the aforementioned modified versions of the console that axes GameCube support.

- One can snag either the Kinect for just $100, which is fifty bucks less than normal, or the Kinect/360 bundle for $200, which is a hundred bucks less than normal.

- I can’t tell how big the hard drive is, but even if it’s just 160GB, the asking price of $200 for a PlayStation 3 is still fifty bucks cheaper than normal for such a configuration.

- As far as games go, you simply can’t go wrong with $10 for Yakuza 4. Like seriously, deal of the century. And there’s plenty of great $15 games as well, but $28 for Gears of War 3, Forza 4, Battlefield 3, and Arkham City? Hot damn!

As psyched as I still am for the long-awaited American edition of the rhythm action title for the Wii (the DS version is still one of my faves), I’m a tad bit bummed out by the improvements by some stranger on the internet and how the original now pales in comparison.

Basically, someone with lots of time and editing skills at their disposal decided to insert a male stripper, or so the theory goes, into the pro-wrestling interview mini-game. Relax, there’s no nudity involved, and let’s be honest, both the world of strippin’ and wrasslin’ shares much with each other (as fans of the latter likes to conveniently forget)…

Gotta love the look of the girl’s expression; she’s clearly in love. Anyhow, to see what the scene originally game looks like, Destructoid has a side-by-side comparison…

Not surprisingly, it being Halloween and all, Capcom unveiled some new Resident Evil related info yesterday. And here’s the rundown.

First a brand new trailer for Resident Evil: Revelations, which not only shows off more of the story, but a few of the new gameplay elements. Like a very Metroid Prime-esque scanning feature, touch screen based puzzle unlocking, gyro functionality, and Raid Mode, which is the game’s take on multplayer action…

And here’s some more footage from the later. The stages and enemies are based upon the single player, story mode, but one can assume that things have been tweaked to accommodate (and emphasize the need for) two players playing alongside each other. The emphasis is also stat building and upgrading your character, though it remains to be seen if those attributes will carried over to the main game (my best guess is no). Works in both local WiFi and online…

Next is another brand new look at Operation Raccoon City…

Capcom Unity also has a first look at the game’s cover, plus a rundown of all the pre-order bonuses that comes with the game, depending on which retailer you go with. Or, you can just be Capcom’s little bitch completely and just spring for the special edition, which includes everything. Though it’s only an extra $10, which is actually pretty cheap as far as special editions go, mostly since it doesn’t include some big goofy state or an art book.

And finally, a new game has been announced! Well, sorta…

Resident Evil Chronicles HD Selection is basically Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles for the Wii, but given a PS3 facelift, and playable via the Move. Sorta like the just released House of the Dead Overkill: Extended Cut from Sega. And since that one turned out not so bad, this one could as well.

We normally don’t dwell on the boring stuff around here, like financial analysis, but it’s perhaps worth going over Nintendo’s earning loss. Mostly because it’s huge. And I mean REALLY huge.

As Joystiq and others have reported, while back, Nintendo told it’s stock owners to brace for impact. But the end result is far worse than even they expected.

Since March, they have lost a whopping 70.2 billion yen, twice as much as the 35 billion yet. 70.2 billion yen equals to 926 million btw. That’s a whole lot of scratch. Most of the dip in profits stems from, not surprisingly, the American market, which saw a dip of 53.8%.

Case in point: the Wii sold well enough, but hardly anyone is buying games. Perhaps their stance of not releasing games, that a good number of folks would totally buy, are finally biting them in the ass?

Nintendo is hard at work on the Wii U, so things always get a bit lean during that awkward in-between phase, with all money and effort is being spent on the next platform. So it’s important to live off the fat of the current console, but how’s that possible when Nintendo hasn’t done jack with the plain old Wii?

Never-mind JRPGs, when was the last time something came out for the Virtual Console? People who will inevitably point their fingers towards Apple will only be party correct; Nintendo has been, for all intents and purposes, lazy as hell and is basically sowing what they reap.

Hence why Nintendo is having it’s first loss in over 30 years. But hey, nothing lasts forever, right?

In far less exciting news, but something that’s important nonetheless, is how Sony has just bought out its partner with whom they make cell phones with. Basically, Sony Ericsson will be no more come January 2012.

So what does this mean? Hard to say, but there have been rumblings that Sony really wants to take their portable PlayStation brand to the next level. The Xperia Play has done okay, but there are a number of issues that might benefit from Sony starting from scratch and having a far more unified, focused effort as it pertains to a PSPhone.

Nintendo is at a very vulnerable position, and this might be the time for Sony to shine with the Vita, which looks far more attractive than it did just a few months ago. But them changing things up on the phone side might be a sign of a more concerted effort against Apple, and… good luck with that.

BTW, remember the Play’s spokeswoman? Well there’s a contest going on, involving Kristen Schaal and the recently released Minecraft for Android devices…

Nintendo of Japan just had a press conference that was chock full of announcements and the like. Some of it applies to us Americans, some of it doesn’t. The following is a list of what actually matter to us in the 50 States.

Helping things out is this video featuring Nintendo of America’s President, Reggie Fils-Aime, who goes over each point…

… But for those who don’t have the time or interest to watch the whole thing, here’s the basics:

- Hulu Plus is finally coming to Wii and the 3DS. Yay. So now you can spend $8 on content that will make you happy that you don’t blow ten times that much for basic cable, yet make you wonder why you still have to deal with commercials.

- There’s another system updated headed towards 3DS owners that will allow them the chance to record 3D video. That’s kid of neat! Up to ten minutes can be filmed, and you’ll even get to shoot stuff via stop motion. No word yet on how these will be shared, if at all. Nintendo being a family friendly company means YouTube uploading is perhaps not an option, sorry.

- Dreamworks Animation offerings on the system is somewhat old news, but you can add an exclusive to their catalog: Thriller, redone via the cast of Shriek. Note: I think Shriek is pretty retarded, and this from a grown man who has no problems professing his love for cartoons.

- If it wasn’t clear by now, the message is how Nintendo is purely catering towards kids and teens. Some 3D music video for some group called Foster The People was also teased. Never heard of these geeks. Next.

- At long last, some games were touched upon. But the wave of upcoming eShop titles that Nintendo has in store are total snore-fests. Swapnote is maybe the most interesting of the bunch, in which you can create notes that feature drawings and pictures taken with the 3DS, which can be passed along via Street Pass. Actually, does that sound very interesting? Yeah, not really. I know.

- Finally we have actual games. But just three, yet they’re the big three: Super Mario 3D Land, Super Mario Kart 7, and Skyward Sword.

… Honestly, that last point best illustrates Nintendo more than anything else. If not for their ability to make truly amazing games, the company would be so hosed right now. Despite the fact that the 3DS is looking and more like a total dud, I still sorta want one, if only for Land and Kart. And the reason why everyone still has their Wii is because of the latest Zelda.

I’m not one of those folks who wishes Nintendo would drop hardware, but I it would be nice if they’d just concentrate on making games and stop everything else. But that’s where the money is at… not my money… but someone has to cater to the lucrative kids and teen market, which Sony and MS is not focusing on (they’re too busy pleasing adults).

My biggest gripe, from my POV, is how Nintendo simply isn’t doing the best job possible when it comes to catering towards kids. Things can just be done so much… I dunoo… better? Then again, maybe they just have more patience/don’t realize how chintzy and slapped together some of their offerings are. Instead of being like Apple and doing one thing very well, repeatedly, Nintendo now feels like Google, in the sense that they’re doing tons of the things, and everything is just sorta “okay.”

If Nintendo wants to really succeed, they just need to buckle down and make games. LOTS of games. Good ones, obviously. That’s what will get adults interested, and I’m pretty certain kids would appreciated as well. And also listen to what people want. Their walking to the beat of their own drum has become tiresome. Worked back in the day when no one was providing alternatives. Well, it ain’t the 80s anymore, that’s for damn sure.

At least Tiny Cartridge’s summation of the Japanese press conference hold some hope. Sone neat games were highlighted… which hopefully will make it out here… and more importantly, you’ll soon be able to transfer content from one 3DS to another. About damn time. So it would seem Nintendo is finally listening.

And sometimes it more than obvious in like 5 seconds. Any bets on what the following is an example of?

You’ve no doubt seen Ghost Squad at one point or another; the light gun game is a staple at Dave & Busters across the country. Well, it’s apparently a big hit in the Thailand. At least with this guy. I don’t even want to know how much money was spent on the arcade version, to learn every bit of minutia related to the game…

BTW, before anyone says that he probably got plenty of practice via the home version of the game, I say bullsh*t. Sorry, but a guy like, he’s too hardcore for that, to let alone own a Wii (not that I agree, but that’s just how some folks are).

For one thing, Sony’s definition of “backwards compatibility” for the PlayStation Vita is yet another shameless money grab.

When the Vita was first revealed, Sony made sure to emphasize its ability to run all original PSP software. When led everyone to wonder how in the hell that would work, given how the new system would have no UMD drive. Numerous theories began to circulate, and none of them made any sense.

My favorite involved people actually mailing Sony their physical game discs to them, to be exchanged for digital versions. I can only imagine the folks that Sony would hire for such a job. That seriously makes no sense on like 58 different levels.

Anyhow, according to a report by Siliconera, the grand plan has finally come to light. And it’s… repurchasing all your old games, but at special price. lulz.

While some might appreciate the option, to many, it will most certainly feel like yet another lame ploy by Sony to make extra money from its users, but also make it look like they’re doing you a big favor in the process.

One also can’t help of how Sony botched things up on the PS3. The first run of their consoles was able to play both PSone and PS2 games with total ease, thanks to onboard hardware. Then said hardware was removed, in order to save costs… sure, whatever… and was replaced by software emulation. Okay.

But then that got removed for absolutely no reason. Why? None of given, but many theorize it’s because Sony wanted to make more money, selling folks games, perhaps ones they already own, all over again. Which appears to be the deal here, though in their defense, that Vita simply cannot accept disc media.

It’s basically the same defense Nintendo has been able to use, as it pertains to them constantly rehashing older titles on whatever new platform. Take the Wii for example; I’m actually thankful for the chance to re-buy certain old games, since it clearly doesn’t have a NES, SNES, or Genesis slot.

But I do have a bunch of old GameCube games, and am also thankful that my little discs are accepted in the bigger disc drive of the system. It’s a definite bonus, though future Wii owners aren’t as lucky. Because just announced is a brand new version of the console that completely drops GC support (see above).

What? Why? Again, it’s to save money. Honestly, there aren’t a TON of Cube exclusive games that future Wii owners will be missing out on, though the ability to play Smash Bros with a real controller? Now that totally bites.

Though ultimately, it’s just paving the way for old Cube games being made available for the Wii U as downloads. And one has to wonder if the Virtual Console on that end will mirror its predecessor. As in, it totally sucks. I’m still waiting for Starfox on the SNES, dammit.

There’s also the concern about all the downloaded content being cross compatible with upcoming consoles. I spent a LOT of money on assorted XBLA arcade games, and it would be nice to know that I’ll be able to migrate them onto the Xbox 720. But that’s a topic for another time…

But even in America, I’m confident these girls in bikinis and schoolgirl outfits will help you figured out what game you’ll want next. Maybe.

First off, via Desrtructoid: Dead Rising 2: Off The Record is coming out soon, and to help expound upon the game’s virtues, Capcom decided to film a pair of women playing the game while wearing close to nothing.

Since I don’t have an Asian fetish, the following does nothing for me, since I’m part Korean and all, but I know plenty of you round-eyers will get off on all their silly screaming…

… I guess it would be far more informative and entertaining if I knew what she was saying, but at least the close up on the boobs are appreciated. Anyhow, here’s another, but with a key difference: the girls sitting on one of those work out balls…

… Trust me, if they resembled Emma Watson or the like, I wouldn’t be hatin’. Next, we have an ad for Just Dance Wii, courtesy of Kotaku, featuring AKB48, which is a J-pop “idol” group that has 60 different members. Only a few of the “teams” are featured in the following…

And finally, here’s just a random clip reel of all the booth babes from Tokyo Game Show, via GoNintendo. Instead of screaming or dancing, most are just standing their and waving their hands, like there’s someone off camera with a loaded shotgun pointed right at their face. But that’s how booth babes on that end are supposed to act, I suppose (and it’s somewhat better than the porn star-ish types you generally find at American trade shows)…

Recently a video featuring Jerry Rice & Nitus’ Dog Football began making the rounds, and I had assumed that, at long last, the game is finally getting close! Hence the newfound footage. Well, turns out, I was half correct.

See, turns out, the following footage has been around for ages. Since January to be exact, which by internet standards is a lifetime. Anyway, here’s the clip, which makes absolutely no sense…

Again, it and the associated YouTube page has been with us this entire time and none of us knew about it. Till now, since the game is indeed coming soon, hence the need to advertise. Here’s another sorta old clip, this time actually featuring Jerry, as well as some actual gameplay…

Time for one last clip, which is actually recent. It’s mostly a family friendly fluff piece, not some hardcore serious behind the scenes look (as if that’s possible). Basically, no twenty-minute tirade by Rice about Michael Vick…

All I want to know is what the deal is with the very end of that last clip; I’m sure it’s an inside joke, but still…

… BTW, according to Kotaku, the game is coming out on the 16th. BTW, is it bad to say that, as someone who knows virtually nothing about football, that from this point forward, Jerry Rice will always be known to me as the guy with that dog football game?

For those who have yet to partake in one of the Wii’s best light gun experiences (one in which killing zombies is involved, yet does NOT have Resident Evil in the title), the following will either tell you everything you need to know and save you the time or have you rushing to Gamestop.

My favorite part is when they say the f word. Via Reddit and NSWF audio btw…

Again, it’s actually pretty decent! Will admit, was initially non-plussed by the shameless attempt at riding the Grindhouse wave, but at its core is a decent game, plus I actually did find the thing funny at times (like the haunted ride part, which you see for five seconds in the clip).

Though I suppose it’s worth mentioning how those interested in picking up a copy might want to hold off, provided they have a PS3 and the PS Move; announced at E3 was the port, subtitled Extended Cut, and here’s the latest trailer that debuted at last weekend’s San Diego Comic Con…

And also, how badly you lack rhythm yourself.

Remember a few days ago when I mentioned how there’s only four more games from Nintendo to look forward to on the Wii? There’s Skyward Sword, the new Kirby game, and… umm… okay, make that just three.

Rhythm Heaven is the third, and it looks like all kinds of awesome. Observe…

And here’s a closer look at the golf challenge, mostly cuz, hey, monkeys…

It’s basically a more musical take on WarioWare, or WarioWare Smooth Moves, the Wii iteration of that series to be exact. And just like other game, the origins of the series is from the handheld…

It’s hella fun, but hella hard. Like you seriously need to know how to stay on beat. And I expect the console version to be no different. For those who need some practice, FYI: it’s only $13 on Amazon.

A game so amazing that NO ONE bothered to cover it at the show! Hell, I’m not even certain if it was actually the thing, but why would Tumblr lie? Anyhow, that’s why I have to refer to footage that was captured at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year…

What kids don’t like bones, right? Also according to the pitchman, Jerry is the chairperson of the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.facebook.com/PetSportsLeague" ">Pet Sports League, with many more games coming down the pipeline under the banner. Cool story bro.

Unfortunately, Retro City Rampage hasn’t gotten nearly enough attention since its release (though in defense to Guyism, I was only brought on board relatively recently). Time to fix that!

Like the title of the post sez, it’s Grand Theft Auto for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Or at least that’s how it’s supposed to feel. Here’s the latest trailer…

Rampaging Retro City – Retro City Rampage from Vblank on Vimeo.

And as you can see, not only does it look like an 8-bit game from back it day, it both borrows elements from actual games back then. Hence why you can carjack or destroy the TMNT van from their first NES game and even the Ecto 1 from Ghostbusters! And why you also have a proton pack as an available weapon.

Not sure when it comes out… has been in development for an awful long time… but hopefully real soon. Comes out for both the Wii’s Virtual Console (which is the way to go, for so many obvious reasons) and Xbox Live Arcade.

Some new info has been revealed concerned the Wii’s successor, and it seems that it might have some of the predecessor’s same baggage.

Those hoping for Nintendo to “finally get it right” with their new system, might be in for a shocker. I’m referring of course to how the Wii upon it’s introduction was a source of serious disdain for those wanting a piece of the much ballyhooed next generation pie. It’s lack of HD support and the underlying specs not being that much different from the previous console’s gave reason for many fanboys to claim that it was simply two GameCube’s duct taped together.

Well, as Joystiq reports (I absolutely love their Photoshop of four Cubes taped together, btw), the new console will only sport a paltry 8GB of flash-based memory, that is somewhat expanded by SD card support. That means, you can pretty much forget DLC to augment games, which in recent years has gotten quite hefty (everyone loves reminding everyone that Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare clocked in at over 1.5GBs).

And what about stand-alone, downloadable games? They’re getting bigger too. But seriously, is this any kind of shock. I love downloadable content for the Wii, whether it be old games for the Virtual Console, or the occasional flashes of brilliance on the WiiWare side of the things. Too bad Nintendo themselves could give a rat’s ass.

Moving on, it is also claimed that the game’s discs will hold about 25GBs worth of data, which is basically a message for pirates out there: “good luck finding a way to copy our games!” Though rest assured, they’ll find a way. They ALWAYS find a way.

There’s also debate whether the new console will support true HD output, aka 1080p. And instead simply opt for 1080i. Now granted, I don’t even have a HD set and often have a hard time telling the differences between 1080 and 720 (they both look good to me… cuz again, I have the same TV everyone watched the Civil Ware go down on, in real time), but seriously? After-all this time… It might be yet another example of Nintendo really not caring what the general public things when it comes to “standards” in gaming. Which, to be honest, is a stance that’s getting somewhat long in the tooth. Enough people have been spoiled by high definition; just give them what they want. I mean, are they saving any money by not going all the way up? Perhaps, but it has to be nominal.

Speaking of saving money, the official date for the across the boar price drop has been announced: May 15th. The system will be $150… and get this… NOT come with Wii Sports. Instead, Mario Kart is being bundled, along with a wheel? So for those who really want Wii Bowling and the rest, they’re going to have to spend an additional $20, as it joins the budget line of releases, as mentioned the other day.

Man, some bargin…

First the good news: the three dimensional handheld version of (arguably) the greatest Zelda adventure ever is shaping up quite nice. Check out the brand new, North American trailer.

Now here’s the bad news: there’s a rumor going around that only 150,000 copies of the game will be pressed at launch, at least in Japan. That sounds ridiculous, given how popular the franchise is, as well as the original game. BUT, the theory is that Nintendo doesn’t want the game ending up in the bargain bins.

Again, the numbers above applies only to Japan’s launch, but I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if something similar happens in America, where sales of the system have been solid, but unspectacular.

Though in semi-related news, it was also recently revealed that Nintendo is FINALLY preparing a “greatest hits” line for the Wii. Meaning games like Twilight Princess… which has been $50 since launch, five years ago… are finally getting reduced price of $20, more than likely to coincide with the system’s price reduction, slated to happen across the board later this month.

Hey, if folks were still paying full-price up this whole time. Which blows holes in the theory of the bargain big fear in America, but again, the Wii sold like gang-busters from the very start and maintained it’s momentum for a very long time, whereas the 3DS needs a shot in the arm. And making people run around like chickens with their heads cut off does help drum up excitement. Worked before, when Super Mario 2 and Zelda 2 were hit with limited quantities due to “chip shortages” during the holiday seasons.

Rumor: 150,000 copies of Ocarina of Time 3D at launch [Destructoid]

Mostly because those who dig stylishly, over the top sex and violence in their games more than likely didn’t think a Wii title could possibly fit the bill. Or, those same types who perhaps heard of the game… which involves running around town, decked out in some truly high-class threads, despite being a total anime dork, and slicing folks folks with effectively a lightsaber, plus pulling off the occasional luchador wrestling move, all while trying to bang your uber hottie of a benefactor… but was turned off by how all Wii games are standard definition, a real no-no for those who can only stomach titles in HD. Whatever.

Well, those clueless idiots out there (or maybe just folks who have legit never heard of the game), the time for excuses is over, thanks to the PS3 port that comes out later this summer. Here’s the trailer from Japan…

It’s actually an enhanced version of a port that came out a few months ago; the Wii original was re-released on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 in Japan. Us dieard fans were able to freely import the latter version, due to the PS3 not having any region encoding when it comes to games, but they all gimped the gimp version due to it being censored. Plus, the shift from the Wiimote the standard controls was not (and still isn’t) much fun at all.

So this new version adds support for the Move, along with some extras, like a bunch of bosses from part 2. Oh, and the sex and violence has been restored, plus taken up a notch or two it would seem! Which thankfully is also the one that’s coming out here in America. Bug your local Gamestop goon for it today!

Oh, and because I’m so into the series, and am similar to the game’s protagonist in many ways (i.e. I’m also a huge animu nerd), am going to pick up this statue, based upon the main cock-teasing heartthrob in the game…

… Even if it is $135, yo.

Seems like all the major video game heads are drinking truth serum (somewhat). First Sony admits that their poorly guarded PSN got hacked into, next Nintendo admits that a Wii successor is indeed for real. Along with how sales of their new handheld did not quite meet expectations.

With all this talk of PSNGate dominating the news, it’s easy to forget how Nintendo also confirmed that, yes, another home system is on it’s way, and will actually be waiting for everyone at E3!

The man in charge of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, at least year's E3 with the just unveiled 3Ds

Though Nintnedo is being pretty tight lipped with the specifics. All we know is what the big N’s head honcho has stated: “We would like to propose a new approach to home video game consoles.” Though don’t expect 3D on the big screen because: “It’s difficult to make 3-D images a key feature, because 3-D televisions haven’t obtained wide acceptance yet.” True dat.

The new console will also go on sale in 2012, which is somewhat surprising… Nintendo generally loves to take over the holiday season with a new toy. So Xmas 2011 will be the Wii’s last hurrah, with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword leading the charge. One has to wonder if a souped up version is still being prepped for the new console?

Unfortunately, Zelda is pretty much it, as far as anything exciting on the clearly getting showing it’s age Nintendo platform. The only other big Wii title from them this year is Wii Play: Motion. And that might be it! Though you can expect the usual slew of crappy dancing games from Ubi Soft and company for the rest of the year.

As for their most recent new platform, the 3DS, thankfully the software forecast looks a little better. We all knew Kid Icarus: Uprising is on tap for later this year, along with the Ocarina of Time & Star Fox 64 revamps in 3D. Along with souped up iterations of Mario Kart, Paper Mario, and Animal Crossing. Though most exciting of is a new original Super Mario title which no one knows nothing about, other than the possible reappearance of Raccoon Mario from part 3, an assumption that’s entirely based upon the upcoming game’s logo…

Oh, and the 3DS Shop finally launches new month, and everyone (well, in Japan at least, though the best guess is everyone’s getting one) is entitled to a 3D remake of ExciteBike for free! Though what I really want to know is if I can finally transfer my DSiWare games from my DSi so I can finally trade up.

That might actually be the reason why sales of the handheld fell short of expectations; Nintendo shipped 3.61 units, but they had hoped for around 4. There were several factors stated for missing the target, like the earthquake in Japan, though the President also claims: “We originally expected that the value of 3D images without the need for special glasses would be automatically spread to some extent by many consumers experiencing the device by themselves and … together with people around them.”

It is sorta true; it’s hard not to be impressed by the 3DS once you’ve actually laid eyes upon the thing. Though, again, having games you’d actually want to play would also help. Maybe.

As the week comes to a close, we have yet another batch of rumors have surfaced. And this time around, the picture is starting to become clearer, thanks to sources that seem fairly legitimate.

- Everyone passing along rumors over the past couple of days have basically said the same thing: this info comes from folks actually making games for it this very second. Which of course makes total sense; if a new system is indeed on it’s way… and I believe it’s fairly safe to say that it’s definitely the case this time around, no doubt about it… there needs to be software when they make the big unveil, let alone when it finally lands.

- Kotaku recently ran a post that primarily centered on the controller. It will indeed feature a touchscreen as noted last time, as well as the also aforementioned camera, along with two analogue sticks. Also there will be around eight physical buttons, and you can bet your bottom dollar that Nintendo’s icon d-pad will be part of that package. The touchscreen btw is gonna be huge. We’re talking 6.2-inches. Having a mini display on your controller to help out with a game on you television is, again, hardly anything new. But you honestly couldn’t do much with the Dreamcast’s VMU, so now we’re talking serious business here.

- The big K continues by stating that this new controller won’t be the sole input, and there might be something closer to the Wiimote that everyone knows alongside. So motion based games will have that, wheras more traditional titles, or perhaps something totally different, will tap into this second controller. For whatever reason, my gut tells me that we won’t end up with multiple controllers in the end. It’s just too complicated and cumbersome, and if Nintendo does indeed have aspirations to be more “Apple-like”, pairing things down to it’s barest essentials is key.

- Here’s a mock-up of the controller btw, courtesy of IGN’s crack Photoshop team…

- Speaking of, they were the ones to deliver some hardcore numbers about the console itself.. The CPU is supposed to be a triple core version IBM’s Power PC chip, and the GPU will be a modified version of AMD’s R700, whatever the heck that means. What is most important are the visuals that will result, which in Project Cafe’s case is 1080p, along with Stereoscopic 3D!

- Esthetically speaking, it’s supposed to be around the size of the original Xbox 360 and “is likely to resemble a modernized version of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.” As for price, forget the days of Nintendo’s offering being the best bargain; it’s retail initially between $350-$400. It’s supposed to hit around October, for the holiday shopping season.

- Here’s a supposed mock-up of what the hardware might look like. But the source is 4chan, so you know how that goes (though I believe IGN took it’s cues as it pertains to the controller from the following)…

- And then there’s Destructoid, whose rumbles are mostly software related. Capcom, Konami, Square Enix, Sega, Namco, Activision, Ubisoft, and Electronic Arts all supposedly have dev kits and at least one title each under development. Hence where all this info is coming from, presumably. Oh, and there’s one other developer: Rockstar. Considering how their past console releases have been rather earth shattering, having Grand Theft Auto 5 on the new console will make it a serious contender without a doubt.

- BTW, Destructoid says forget the name Project Cafe; the new name is Stream. Eh, whatever the hell its called, we’ll get used to it. Just like we did with the Dreamcast!

- It’ll have “a better download service”, whatever the heck that’s supposed to mean. Tell me it’ll have something closer to XBLA, hell, even PSN, and now we’re really talking.

- The guy who made Metal Gear Solid has expressed interest in the hardware, but that due is always all over new hardware, so that doesn’t mean jack in my book. Now, news that the folks who made Metroid Prime are working on something that “everybody wants” is actual news! Though I’m at a loss as to what Nintendo franchise hasn’t been resurrected by this point.

- Hey, another Starfox game is also forth coming. Just give it the ORIGINAL music, from the SNES, not that gawdy theme that was instated with the N64 version and I’ll care, thank you very much.

- Finally, Destructoid mentioned a possibility that I first proposed earlier this week, that being how The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword might also come to Wii HD/Project Cafe/Stream, sorta like how Twilight Princess did double duty for the GameCube and Wii. Whatever happens… I just hope, if there’s a fishing mini game, it doesn’t suck. That’s all I really care about!
