Clete Thomas Productive In 2009 Tigers Debut

If you are a true Tigers fan, even a true baseball fan, how can you not love somebody named Clete? Clete Thomas appeared in 40 Tiger games last season and started this season in Toledo. Carlos Guillen was placed on the 15-day DL giving Thomas an opportunity to get some AB’s with the big club. In his 2009 Tiger debut, Clete went 3-4 with a double and a triple scoring a pair of runs and knocking in a couple more.
Interestingly enough, Jim Leyland batted Thomas in the three hole and dropped Magglio Ordonez to sixth. The move proved to be a wise one, at least in this 9-0 rout of Minnesota. If Clete Thomas can stay hot, he may stay up with Detroit for awhile. The 26 year-old former Auburn Tiger is trying to sink a “clete” into the Detroit outfield for much longer than two weeks.
