Guy eats poisonous snake on a $2 bet; nearly dies

A man in India took a bet from his friends a little too far when he ate a poisonous snake his friend had killed for a measly two bucks. In his defense, it had just gotten through biting one of his friends.
Zaver Rathod, 35, killed the reptile by hurling stones at it after it bit one of his friends in Surat, in the eastern state of Gujurat, The Times of India reported today.
Egged on by his companions, the farm labourer then consumed the entire snake raw for a 100 Rupee bet ($2.42).
This is just another one of those bets where you bet your friend he can’t eat something gross for whatever change you have in your pocket. It’s not a brain bet, it’s a pride bet and there’s always one guy in a group of males that is the designated disgusting thing eater. This guy just happens to live in a place where those “gross” things happen to be highly poisonous reptiles. I’m sure with a few more bucks at my college, it would have escalated into this:
For $5, he’ll eat a cobra. A live one.
For $6, he’ll eat a live cobra with no utensils.
For $7, he’ll fight a bear with a midget strapped to his back.
For $8, he’ll fight a bear with a midget strapped to the bear’s back.
For $10, He’ll fight a bear and untethered midget at the same time.
It’s gotta be tough being the guy in the group in India that does stupid stuff for money because you must get roped into so many animal related injuries… and midget bites.
