I think cliche sayings are kind of like a fallback for people who aren’t creative enough to be witty on their own. Which, while annoying, is fine because if you think about it, if saying “Well, I guess that’s the way the cookie crumbles” really tickles your funny bone, it’s probably for the best that I not go out of my way to listen to the freshly crafted witticisms you might throw at me.
