That number represents the probability of an amateur making a hole-in-one.

Which is why nobody believes Jacqueline Gagne’s story.

Pictured above, Gagne is a 47 yr old woman who is somewhat new to the golfing world. That is to say she has only been playing golf for 5 years or so.
She claims she can read a green from 150 yards out but yet was confused when a club pro asked her if she played a round by “Winter Rules”.
Combine that with the mathematics involved and this might be the whopper of all lies.
This trumps
-Wilt Chamerlain’s 20,000 women
-Pete Rose’s claim of never betting on baseball
-Kenny Rogers claim of dirt on his hat in last year’s world series
-Barry Bonds claim of the clear being flaxseed oil
-Danny Almonte’s age
Golf Digest’s Dave Kindred wrote an excellent story that ESPN picked up.
Its a must read. Many times she didnt even report the hole in one on her scorecard or tell the clubhouse of it until the next day.
Here is an interview with her on a Los Angeles radio show.
