Toys are evil if we’ve ever learned anything from the movie Child’s Play or that time that “Hopping Tigger” laid near my face “hopping” repeatedly. So it should come as no shock that a toy parrot turned against its owner (or did exactly what it was programmed to do) by cursing repeatedly.

When Tina Banks spotted the toy parrot as she browsed for a present for her baby daughter, she thought it was just the thing to brighten up the infant’s pushchair.

But as the mother walked home with the cuddly toy strapped on to 11-month-old Roxy’s buggy, the parrot began firing off a volley of four-lettered abuse.

The multi-coloured soft toy told her ‘I’m going to rip your head off’ before squawking ‘bugger off’ – prompting passers-by to walk away shaking their heads in disgust.

She said: ‘There were lots of them on sale and there was nothing I could see warning that it swore.

‘There is enough swearing in the world without having to listen to it coming out of a toy parrot.’
