A New York teenager accidentally billed $23 quadrillion seized the moment to update her Facebook status.
It read: “Very much in debt.”
Lydia Alcock of North Salem, N.Y., wasn’t alone in her virtual debt.
In a statement, Visa blamed the eye-popping charges on a programming error that affected more than 12,000 customers nationwide. The company says the problem was quickly corrected and all fees voided.
