Quote of the Day

A judge sentenced a 38 year-old woman to a two to four year stint in prison for having sex with a minor even though he acknowledged it’s different for a boy to have sex with an older woman than the inverse. Sounds to me like the only sentencing that should have happened was giving the boy a high five. This is one QOTD that might warrant reading the whole story…pretty entertaining situation.

Acknowledging that a societal double standard exists, a judge on Monday sentenced a 38-year-old woman to a two- to four-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting a teenage boy.

“Like it or not, an underage boy having sex with an older-aged girl is viewed differently than the other way around,” Hillsborough County Superior Court Judge Robert Lynn said before handing down the sentence on Nashua resident Robin Mowery.

While standards should hold equally, Lynn said, society has different viewpoints on male and female victims. In this case, Lynn said he weighed the extent of the teen’s victimization on how the boy “aggressively pursued” sex with Mowery. “Young men have raging hormones. It doesn’t make him a bad person,” the judge said.
