Saudi woman to be lashed and jailed for getting raped
Oh Saudi Arabia, you’re so understanding of the needs of women. Why else would you sentence a woman to jail and LASHING for getting gang raped?

A Saudi court sentenced a woman who had been gang raped to six months in jail and 200 lashes — more than doubling her initial penalty for being in the car of a man who was not a relative, a newspaper reported Thursday.
The decision by the Qatif General Court came in a case that had sparked rare debate about the kingdom’s justice system when it surfaced more than a year ago.
She had initially been sentenced to 90 lashes after being convicting her of violating Saudi’s rigid laws on segregation of the sexes.
Under Saudi Arabia’s interpretation of Islamic Sharia law, women are not allowed in public in the company of men other than their male relatives.
Well then. Sure, it’s easy to look at this as a case of being extremely insensitive to a woman who was raped. But maybe Saudi Arabia’s even more progressive than we are America. Apparently, they expect their women to be able to fight off armies of men with their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills. Anything less than that is unacceptable, rapeable, and lashable.
While reading the quote I posted above, I’m sure you assume that the woman was the only one punished. Lest you think I’m a sloppy journalist, it’s important to note that the men had repercussions from their actions as well. They were sentenced to take a course at Saudi Arabia University titled “Raping Effectively for the Saudi Man” and given high fives from the court. See, it’s not so easy being a man in Saudi Arabia either.
