Vanilla Ice apologizes for Ice Ice Baby

Chris Spags Founder and Editor

Many people have continued to hate Vanilla Ice even though his popularity waned almost 20 years ago. So, he’s coming out and issuing a fake-ish apology for being Vanilla Ice and making the song Ice Ice Baby.

I can’t say that I totally agree with the hatred for Vanilla Ice. So what if he wasn’t too talented and looked like a douchebag. Or that he stole the beat from Queen’s Under Pressure and then said that the difference was that theirs was “ding ding ding ding ding da ding ding” and his was “doo doo doo doo doodoo doo doo doo” (which, by the way, I can’t find the video for any where, so if you can find it, please send it along) and, in fairness, eventually admitted to stealing.

So yeah, I have a soft spot in my heart for Vanilla Ice. And it has nothing to do with how I bought stock in a company specializing in fade haircuts on white guys or how many Trapper Keepers I had of him in an American flag jacket. We should salute Vanilla Ice for living the American dream: making lots of money in spite of an utter lack of talent. And for getting hung off of a balcony by Suge Knight until he gave up his publishing rights. That’s just shrewd negotiation skills.
