My zest for old ads is pretty well-chronicled at this point and this ad definitely also falls under that umbrella. It’s an important lesson about smoking we can learn from this 70s ad.

Look at the sensible pants suit. This is a woman you can trust. She probably watches Laverne and Shirley or Rhoda and is totally in touch with what a powerful woman is. She’s also probably been on the receiving end of a rotisserie from the Los Angeles Lakers and Wilt Chamberlain (I assume every woman in the 70s was), so she’s probably also very familiar with the values of having something long WINK WINK NUDGE STEREOTYPE ELBOW TO RIBS.

Yes I see no flaws on this logic. Then again, I also believe that rubbing the Wishing Rock and praying to a plate full of tortellini will heal your wounds or that saying “No batter no batter” and scratching behind my ear before engaging in unprotected sex will save me from disease and pregnancy so perhaps my views are lacking a bit in your traditional “science” or “logic”.
